Our children leave Holmwood to go on to a wide range of senior schools, both boarding and day, with whom we enjoy tremendously supportive relationships. The Headmaster meets with parents of children in Year 5 to start the process of choosing their future schools. In recent years our boys and girls have gone to the following schools:
Ampleforth |
Gresham’s | Royal Hospital School |
Benenden | Haileybury | Rugby |
Brentwood | Harrow | St Joseph’s |
CRGS/CHSG | Ipswich | Stowe |
Culford | King’s, Canterbury | The Leys |
Downside | Millfield | Uppingham |
Eton | New Hall | Westminster |
Felsted |
Oakham | Woodbridge |
Framlingham | Oundle |
The Headmaster will always visit any other senior schools in which parents may be interested
The school is essentially non-selective and the ability range is broad. Pupils are assessed on entry to inform individual targets, identify cognitive abilities and support learning needs. Pupils at the school do not participate in National Curriculum Key Stage testing. In Years 7 & 8, our assessment structure is created using the Holmwood House Certificate for all subjects.
Recent Scholarships
Our track record of supporting children through scholarships is impressive. Academic, Sports, Music, Art, DT and All Rounder scholarships have been awarded to Holmwood pupils from a wide range of senior schools throughout the country over the past four years.
In recent years, pupils have been awarded scholarships to Ipswich, Oundle, Framlingham, Felsted, Ampleforth, Culford, Rugby, Uppingham, King’s Canterbury, RHS, Millfield and Gresham’s.
