From the Headmaster….

Dear Parents
We have seen some really good focus from our senior pupils this week as they have either been involved in Year 7 and 8 assessments or preparing to be. It is great to see the older pupils act as role models for our younger children and I know the Buddy system is much valued by all the children both young and older.  Our Year 6s are enjoying their first visit to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London.  The pupils’ response to their Shakespeare studies has been really encouraging and I am delighted that this important feature of our national literacy archive is being shared so expertly with the children in the Prep school.
Boarding events continue to be a real hit with the children.  Tuesday’s Jurassic Park went down very well as did the pop corn!  Looking ahead to next Friday’s mega-board, the children (and staff!) are getting very excited about it.  With pirates last week, dinosaurs, this week, what with the Day of the Dead bring?
I have had a number of prospective parents visit the school recently and it is always great to hear the feedback from them after their tour of the school.  What comes across is the happy learning environment and the richness of the extra-curricular opportunities our children love and thrive upon.  Rehearsals for the Pre-Prep Christmas productions are reaching a peak and I am sure that parents are looking forward to these extravaganzas as much as I am!  This year, some of the nursery children’s parents have also been invited along to the Year R and 1 show and we look forward to welcoming them.  Good luck, everyone!
The Year 8s are looking forward to their amazing trip next week when they will meet local MPs, Priti Patel and Will Quince, as part of their tour of the Houses of Parliament before heading off to the Royal Courts of Justice. This forms part of the law, justice and politics section of the PSHCE curriculum which the pupils have responded to extremely well.  In addition to this trip, we are lucky enough to be able to host at school a criminal barrister, Patch A’s uncle, to talk to the senior pupils about his job in this exciting field.  Lucky children!
With best wishes
