From the Headmaster….

Dear Parents

It was good to see that the rain and wind did not deter prospective parents from visiting the school for Open Morning earlier today. We had a very good number of visitors who were expertly guided around the facilities by our tour guides from Years 5, 6, and  8 . My thanks to them for being super ambassadors for the school. Their insight and enthusiasm was great.

The Learning Review at the start of the week was a positive experience and a great opportunity to have the strengths of the school recognised and our development points validated in terms of ensuring our focus is right.  My thanks to the team of Bellevue teachers from other schools for the professional job they did and to all the staff involved in what can be a potentially tense experience.  Some highlights from the verbal feedback were as follows:  “The pupils are extremely polite and well-mannered; clearly proud of their school; they self-regulate their behaviour and there is a culture of pupils expecting each other to behave well and engage in their learning. Engagement in lessons is strong and children are keen to contribute their ideas and are able to do so in a safe environment without fear of failure. There are multiple examples of excellent relationships and rapport between staff and pupils and children work very well in pairs and groups across the ages ranges.”

We’ve had two Parent Rep meetings this week with another to follow next week. The minutes from these will be published online before the end of term and we thank you for using this forum for your comments, observations and praise, which is very much appreciated.

There were Comic Relief jokes aplenty in today’s assemblies and more published in this newsletter. We raised in the region of £75, so well done.

Good luck to the Boarding staff who tonight will be training Dragons and caring for Knights and Princesses at the theme boarding night for the Years 4 and 5 children. The themed menu looks delicious and the activities sound wonderful so we expect it to be a lot of fun.

With best wishes
