Land Ahoy, but how will we get there!
Curious to see what their next challenge would be for their Land Ahoy theme, Year 2 were very excited when they were challenged to design a boat that could move on its own without the children touching it and to stretch them further, be powerful enough to carry some cargo!
The children had to use a variety of the skills they have been working on in class to design their boat. Their first step was to decide how they were going to propel their boats and use their reasoning skills to choose from a sailing boat, paddle boat powered by elastic bands, or air powered using a balloon. Once they had chosen their energy source they had to be resourceful and reflective as they tweaked their designs to ensure they would be strong enough to achieve their aims. There was huge excitement as the children tested their and successfully carried their cargo to land!
